The 16th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations defines a portable appliance as an electrical
appliance that can be moved while it is connected or can be moved to use elsewhere.

Therefore portable appliances are to be considered to be those that are supplied with electricity
by connection of a socket outlet.

All 240/110v mains powered portable appliance equipment are too be tested such as:

  Kettles

  Toasters

  Refrigerators

  Washing Machines

  Sandwich makers

  Desk Lamps

  Hair dryers

  Vacuum cleaners

  Televisions

  IT Equipment

  IEC Leads

  Printers

   Plus many more

Note: Hard wired equipment may sometimes be tested, depending on ease of isolation from the mains supply, it would then be disconnected from the electrical outlet. Testing should take place with a (safe - bloc) wire to plug adapter. There is an additional cost for testing this type of equipment.
